| Building Simulation |
Building simulation lets the environmental performance of buildings be investigated, and energy analysis calculations be carried out. Building simulation allows future internal environmental conditions to be predicted as a result of changes in the use of the building. Changes to heating schedules, ventilation rates, occupancy levels and repair/retrofit measures can also be included during the simulations. Building simulation can also be used to predict heat and moisture movement in the building fabric. This allows the risk of interstitial condensation, the influence of driving rain on exterior building components and drying out times to be investigated. Through the use of building simulation, EBS can test various remedial actions and environmental strategies by predicting future trends in building performance and internal environmental conditions. Cost effective environmental strategies can be suggested based upon the simulations to provide sustainable conservation solutions. Environmental strategies can focus on occupants, artefacts or the building fabric. |
