Environmental services Building Conservation: Flood Damage

Flood Damaged buildings will take many months or years to dry out following flooding. Further damage can be caused to the building if the drying is not carried out carefully. Too rapid drying can result in differential movement between materials leading to for instance, cracking and spalling of masonry whereas if left to dry out too slowly mould and timber decay may form causing further damage.

EBS has years of experience in advising owners of flood-damaged buildings. Ensuring that the drying process is carefully managed to minimise damage to the building.

EBS staff has been involved with environmental monitoring and drying out a range buildings following fire and flood damage including Hampton Court Palace, Windsor Castle, Cullen House, Guys Hospital and a range of public houses and historic buildings. Click here to see our Case Studies.
