EBS staff has been involved with research and development work in investigations, analysis and monitoring of historic buildings, to develop strategies for environmental control and sustainable conservation solutions. EBS also carried out research and development work on moulds and health, house dust mite and health implications, allergy problems in buildings, indoor air quality, and biodeterioration of building materials.

Research and development work has been undertaken in the following sectors;
